Early in 1949 mechanical engineering students of the University of California at Berkeley revived interest in an honorary mechanical engineering society started in 1941. The California Pi Omega Chapter was formally installed on May 14, 1949, by National President B. H. Jennings.
The California Pi Omega Chapter holds biennial student-faculty discussions of the mechanical engineering curriculum and distributes questionnaires for student evaluation of individual mechanical engineering courses and instructors. The Chapter's social events, its banquets and picnics, and its softball and touch football games, promote friendship among its active, graduate, and faculty members.
