Stevens Phi Omicron
Hoboken, NJ 07030
During the fall of 1983, Dr. John N. Crisp, then Department Head of Mechanical Engineering, recognized the need for a Mechanical Engineering Honor Fraternity that represented the Mechanical Engineering ideals. Under his leadership, eligible mechanical engineering students petitioned the National Council of Pi Tau Sigma for a chapter to be installed at Stevens. The Stevens Phi Omicron Chapter was formally installed October 17, 1986, by National President Hudy Hewitt, Jr., and National Secretary-Treasurer Edwin Griggs.
The chapter honors outstanding students in Mechanical Engineering. In addition to representing the traditions and high ideals of Pi Tau Sigma, the chapter actively supports the programs of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The chapter also actively promotes high scholastic standards of excellence in Mechanical Engineering and strives to nurture the ideals of Pi Tau Sigma in the future leaders in mechanical engineering.
