Maine Alpha Zeta
Orono, ME 04469
In the fall of 1990, the faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and several outstanding students, under the guidance of Department Chairman Dr. Donald A. Grant, petitioned the National Council of Pi Tau Sigma to establish a local chapter. The petition was subsequently approved and on April 24, 1992, the Maine Alpha Zeta chapter was formally installed by Professor James R. Welty, National President, and Professor Edwin I. Griggs, National Secretary-Treasurer.
The objectives of the local chapter are to promote the highest ideals of the engineering profession through education and by an awareness of the responsibility that engineering has to society, and by the cooperation of the members of Pi Tau Sigma with leaders of local industry, government, and past graduate.
