Annual Chapter Reports

Cornell Pi Tau

As a result of a petition for membership submitted by thirty enthusiastic mechanical engineering students, Cornell Pi Tau was formally installed November 15, 1948, with National Vice-President C. H. Kent presiding. The chapter ran strongly for approximately twenty-five years, providing a tutoring service for freshmen and participating in the Engineers' Day program, among other events, before it became inactive. Under the bold leadership of Marc S. Weinstein, a senior in the Sibley School of Mechanical Engineering, a new group submitted a petition to the National Council in December 1983 to reinstate the honorary fraternity. On May 7, 1984, National President Hudy C. Hewitt, Jr., Vice-President Wayne W. Walter, and Secretary-Treasurer Edwin I. Griggs visited Cornell University to formally reinstall the Pi Tau Chapter. The chapter boasts a first class of over fifty members. The new chapter is anxious to promote the high ideals of Pi Tau Sigma.
